Our Staff & Lay Leaders

The Rev. Dr. Nina George–Hacker was called to be our 47th Rector in 2016. She holds a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from Georgetown University, a Master of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Anglican Seminary. Since 1990, she has served as the pastor of five churches, and has also worked as a parish administrator. Prior to being ordained a priest, Mother Nina taught Philosophy at Georgetown University and Boston College, and worked as a newspaper journalist and editor of scholarly books. She has published two novels, and is currently working on a third. A native of Washington D.C., she has been married for 32 years to Richard Hacker, our Organist/Choir Director. They live in Cornwall, Pennsylvania with their three cats, Gracie, Abbey, and Holly.


Richard (“Rick”) Hacker, our Organist/Choir Director since 2016, studied piano at the Lancaster Conservatory of Music with Dr. Mary Vyner, and organ with Alice Birchall and Scott Weidler (former Director for Worship and Music, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Mansfield University; has taught piano privately; performed as an accompanist at the National Cathedral and Constitution Hall in Washington D.C., and for the National Association of Teachers Singing (NATS) Finals. He has served as Organist and Choir Director at both United Methodist and Episcopal churches for more than 50 years. He is married to our Rector.

Debra (“Debbie”) Martin is ourAdministrative Assistant.
Formerly a jeweler and a retired nurse, she brings detail-oriented organization and efficiency to her position and gets things done. She has one adult son and daughter-in-law, and is married to Glenn.

Helen Esbenshade, Attorney at Law serves as our Rector’s Warden.
Her practice focuses on local government representation, zoning and land use, land acquisition and finance. She also serves as an advisor to businesses, nonprofits, local governments, authorities and developers. Her family has been at St. John’s Church for generations, and many reside in our historical cemetery.

Robin Baldwin is our People’s Warden. A lifelong member of St. John’s, Robin brings to her position administrative and financial experience from her professional life. She lives in the City of Lancaster and enjoys socializing with her neighbors and weekends at the beach.
